Motorola Sparrow Touchscreen Concept
Motorola has come up with a new concept of Motorola Sparrow. This handheld device was specially designed to offer retail stores with a mobile Point-of-Sale gizmo by decentralizing from the check out point, helping customers avoid long sales queues during the hectic weekend.
Combined features include a scanner, point of sale (POS) system, RFID, communication and credit card reading capabilities. The front and back areas of the Sparrow are touch-sensitive, supposedly easing their use and navigation. This is a huge improvement of an old idea. It would be great to see in the retail world. I’m not sure why the designer chose to name the creation “Motorola Sparrow,” but I think that this would be a really good name for a music-centered handset.
Or maybe for a device that Jack Sparrow would love (you know, the character from Pirates of the Caribbean). Anyway, even if the Sparrow never makes it to the real world, Motorola can still learn something from its design. A handset so small and cool might be the next best thing for the touchscreen mobile market.
