HP Mini 1000 Linux Version only $20 Cheaper
Though some would argue that Linux’s time has come and gone, it looks like netbook manufacturers aren’t giving up on the OS entirely. According to Liliputing, an HP Mini 1000 Linux edition is coming in January. It’s only $20 less than the XP version, which makes me wonder what the real advantage is of choosing it over Windows?
Sure, some people want anything but Microsoft, but the majority seem to prefer XP (or, at least, cannot deal with the quirks of Linux). A Linuxed HP 1000 isn’t likely to revive the OS, but it shows that the major manufacturers still see some merit in it. Whether consumers will is still to be determined. Via
