Hey, hey, just as expected out pops Sony Ericsson’s latest Walkman from the rumor mill. The quad-band W705 (aka RIKA, the G705 clone) with UMTS/HSPA 900/2100 support shares the same Clear Bass / Clear Stereo audio quality found in the W980 Walkman while packing DLNA-certified WiFi, shake control and SensMe music manipulation, a “large” (uh, hardly by today’s standards) 2.4-inch display, 4GB of bundled memory card storage, an FM radio, 3.2 megapixel camera, Google Maps, and an accelerometer for what’s quickly becoming a ubiquitous auto-rotating display feature on cellphones. It also packs Bluetooth, allowing it to stream audio out to the newly announced MBS-900 Bluetooth speaker. You know, if you’re a fan of compressed audio and short battery life. Just sayin’s all. Both will be available in select markets as of Q1 of the new year. sourse

HP is expected to release Linux version of its HP 1000 netbook next January. Somehow, the Linux version only $20 cheaper than the HP mini 1000 XP version, makes us wonder what kind of agreement did HP make with Microsoft. Who would buy this HP 1000 in Linux flavor when there are only need an extra 20 bucks to get a Windows XP License ? Sure there are more than a handful of Linux fansboy out there. Velocity Micro have announced a new PC range based on Intel’s freshly-announced Core i7 processors.  The Core-920, Core-940 and Core-965 Extreme will all be offered on select models in the company’s Edge, Raptor, ProMagix and Vector models, with prices starting at $1,699.

The launch system, pictured above, is the Velocity Micro Edge Z55 Launch Edition, with an Intel Core-920 processor running at 2.66GHz, 3GB of triple-channel DDR3-1333 RAM, a 500GB 7,200rpm hard-drive and DVD burner.  That retails for $2,199; upgrading to the Core-940 costs a further $360, while choosing the Core-965 Extreme adds $985.

Systems based on the new Intel processors will begin shipping on November 25th.  They’ll also be available in Best Buy, MicroCenter, Circuit City and select Staples retail stores nationwide together with other online vendors. sourse

Samsung’s Q310-34P is one of the first laptops that the Korean company introduced for the US market. Samsung Q310-34P sports an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26GHz processor, 3GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive an integrated GMA 4500 graphics. It features also WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, a 13.3-inch 1280×800 LCD display and a 7-in-1 card reader.

LaptopMag has reviewed the Samsung Q310-34P and comments:

The Samsung Q310-34P is one of the better-designed 13-inch notebooks we’ve tested, and it offers good performance. However, the business-oriented $949 Lenovo ThinkPad SL300 offers nearly double the endurance of the Q310-34P (without charging an arm and a leg for an extra-capacity battery) and the $200 cheaper HP Pavilion dv3510nr features an extra gig of RAM, discrete Nvidia graphics, and a backlit keyboard (although it lasts an hour less on a charge). If good looks and an excellent Vista experience is what you want, the Q310-34P is a tempting option, but other 13-inch notebooks offer better bang for your buck.

Another “Omnia” design phone with “Haptic” user interface is on the world. The new SPH-W6050 by Samsung has a 5 megapixel camera with flash and auto-focus as well as Omnia or Haptic but “only” 3 inches WVGA LCD screen (800×480) with an interactive menu.

The handset also got a TV function with integrated DMB receiver, Bluetooth for wireless connection as well as microSD support. The “best” thing is that the phone will be available only in Korea through LGT for around 800,000 won (~575 USD). Envy them. sourse

TDK is going to release its CFG8A series U.DMA 6-compatible CompactFlash (CF) cards and SDG8A series of 2.5-inch Parallel ATA (PATA) compatible solid state drives (SSD) for industrial applications. Both series are based on high-speed, durable SLC NAND flash memory.

These new CFG8A CF and SDG8A SSD both get TDK’s GBDriver RA8 NAND Flash Memory Controller for enhanced performance. They will be available in up to 16GB of capacity and offer ead access speeds up to 50 MB/sec and write access speeds up to 30 MB/sec.

TDK adds also the 8 bit/sector ECC and 15 bit/sector ECC to provide error correction capabilities with room to accommodate future NAND Flash Memories.

The TDK CFG8A U.DMA 6 CF and SDG8A PATA SSD will released in December. sourse
